Child Safety Policy
Effective July 1, 2026
ZYON Youth Development is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for every child in our programs. Child safety is our highest priority, and it is everyone's responsibility.
Background Checks
All ZYON coaches, staff, and regular volunteers are required to complete a background check before their first interaction with players. Background checks are renewed as required by applicable regulations.
Two-Adult Rule
No coach or adult volunteer will be alone with a single child in an isolated setting. All coaching interactions occur in open, visible environments. Private training sessions are conducted in view of at least one other adult.
Reporting
All ZYON staff are mandatory reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect as required by Utah law. Any concerns are reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. If you observe behavior that concerns you, report it immediately to the head coach or directly to ZYON administration through .
Physical Contact
Physical contact between coaches and players is limited to sports-appropriate instruction (correcting posture, demonstrating technique) and emergency first aid. Unwanted physical contact of any kind is grounds for immediate termination and reporting.
Digital Communication
Coaches do not communicate directly with minor players via personal phone, social media, or messaging apps. All communication with minors goes through the parent or guardian.
Zero Tolerance
Any form of abuse, harassment, or exploitation of any child is grounds for immediate removal from the program, termination of employment or volunteer status, and referral to law enforcement.
To report a concern, contact ZYD. If immediate danger is present, call local emergency services.
